“She’s just about a year old. When we adopted her, we were told she was about 8-10 weeks, but the vet thinks she was younger. We didn’t really know what her mix was because she’s a rescue, so we did a genetic test. We thought she was mostly border collie, but she’s actually mostly German shepherd. There’s also some chow, labrador, and husky in there. She’s very smart, but also has selective listening.
We don’t know for sure, but we think she was abandoned during the fires in California because she was rescued from there around the same time. And she doesn’t like fires or smoke. When we build fires in the backyard, she goes into the house or if something starts smoking on the stove, she’ll run away. We adopted her from Oregon Dog Rescue, it’s a great organization. I made my husband get there at 7:30 in the morning, so we could be first in line to adopt her. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the day we got her!”
